Search for missing Boeing 737 in Indonesia

A search is underway for a Boeing 737 that has gone missing after leaving Jakarta.

The Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500 reportedly dropped 10,000ft in 60 seconds before disappearing from radar according to data from Flight tracking apps.

Flight SJ182 was flying from Jakarta to Pontianak City with around 50 passengers on board.

The Indonesian Air Ministry confirmed a search and rescue operation is underway.

An image shared widely on social media shows rescuers with what is apparently aircraft debris.

Aircraft Debris has reportedly been found in the sea in the search area but it has not yet been confirmed as from the missing 737.
