Ryanair has put a twice weekly service to Malta from Cardiff Airport on sale on its website.

The flights, which begin in April 2019, are designed to work with Ryanairs new partnership with Air Malta which offers onward flights from Luqa Airport with the Maltese airline.

The route is the first connection to the Mediterranean island since Air Malta dropped the route several years ago.

The service will operate on a Wednesday and Saturday throughout the Summer season.

Deb Barber, CEO of Cardiff Airport said:“Our customers have been asking for the return of flights to Malta for some time, so we’re absolutely thrilled  with today’s announcement that Ryanair will operate regular, low-cost services to this popular Mediterranean destination from April 2019.”
