Ryanair (FR/RYR) is to cut 3000 jobs across the airline in a bid to survive the next year.
The job cuts will primarily come from operational staff, Pilots and Cabin crew according to sources at the airline.
The news comes just 24 hours after it emerged British Airways was also planning to cut thousands of crew from its book leaving staff stunned.
British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) said there has been no consultation or warning of the job losses at Ryanair.
BALPA General Secretary Brian Strutton said: “This is miserable news for Ryanair pilots and staff who have taken pay cuts under the Government job retention scheme. Ryanair seems to have done a u-turn on its ability to weather the COVID storm.”
Some smaller UK Ryanair bases may also close and the remaining staff will be faced with pay cuts.
