A Ryanair flight that was due to land in Bristol this evening has diverted to Cardiff Airport following suspected flap issues.
The flight, FR8217 was due to land at Bristol Airport (BRS/EGGD) at 18:15 but after discovering issues with extending the flaps the pilot elected to divert to Cardiff (CWL/EGGD) due to the longer runway length.
The flaps on the wing are extended to allow the aircraft to fly slower for take-off and landing.
The aircraft, a Boeing 737-800 (EI-ENJ) made a safe landing at Cardiff Airport.
Ryanair has been asked for comment.
