Royal Aeronautical Society appoints new president

Air Commodore Peter Round FRAeS has taken over as president of the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) following the Annual General Meeting held on 4th May.

Air Cdre Round joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1979 and graduated from Manchester University after reading Metallurgy.

During his RAF tenure, he flew Buccaneers from RAF Lossiemouth and became an RAF Qualified Flight Instructor. He also became a T37 Instructor Pilot and Flight Commander at the Euro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot Training School at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas in 1992.

Other roles include Commanding No1 Elementary Flying School, Ad of Flying Training and UK Liasion to the NATO Supreme Allied Commander.

Today he is chairman of Kleos Space based in Luxembourg.,

The AGM also elected Karissa Khan MRAeS as President-Elect and who will take over from Air Cdre Round in 2023.
