Over 1000 flights cancelled so far due to Storm Eowyn

Storm Eowyn has hit the UK and Ireland this morning bringing winds over 90mph and resulting in 1070 flights being cancelled as of 10:00hrs GMT.

According to data from aviation analytics firm Cirium the cancellations account for almost 20% of scheduled flights due to take-off this morning.

Ireland along with Northern Ireland, Scotland and North West of the UK have been worst affected by the winds and driving rain.

The worst affected airports are:

Rare Red weather warnings, which mean a danger to life, are expected to remain in force across Northern Ireland and North West of the UK until 14:00hrs today and further flight disruption is expected.

If you are in the affected areas then the advice is to not travel unless it’s necessary and to check with your airline before setting off to the airport.
