Throughout the second lockdown, Newcastle Airport has announced that they’ll be keeping scheduled flights running for passengers who are exempt from the current travel restrictions.

The airport is currently operating with the following restricted hours until the 3rd of December.

Monday – Friday: 0555 – 1200 | 1630 – 2230
Saturday – Sunday: 0600 – 1200 | 2030-2230

Throughout the second lockdown KLM will operate up to 14 flights a week to Amsterdam Schipol Airport, British Airways up to 3 flights a week to London Heathrow and Ryanair up to 7 flights a week to destinations including Dublin and Malaga.

Richard Knight, Chief Operating Officer at Newcastle International Airport said: “We have worked closely with our airline partners to ensure that our key business routes remain operational and the Airport stays open for those who need us.”

During the first national lockdown the Airport saw no passenger flights at all for the month of May, however, the airfield remained open for medical, emergency and military flights.

As passenger flights returned the Airport announced a Ten Point Plan of safety measures to ensure the terminal remains a safe environment for all. The plan includes mandatory face masks for passengers and staff, an enhanced cleaning regime and over 100 hand sanitiser stations throughout the passenger journey.
