New England Patriots private 767 takes off

When it comes to travelling to away games the top teams go by private charter. Manchester United for example recently chartered a 747 to go and play in the USA. For the New England Patriots though, that simply wasn’t enough.

The 5 times Superbowl Champions the New England Patriots opted for a different approach for travelling to games and purchased a Boeing 767-323ER and customised it so the players, staff and equipment can all travel in maximum comfort.

Taking its maiden flight yesterday, N36NE took the team from Providence down to Tampa ahead of today’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cruising at 36,000ft it took the team just 2hr28mins.

The former American Airlines (MSN25193/N366AA) Boeing 767-323ER has been equipped with the widest available seats throughout the cabin and has 15″ more legroom than a first class seat on a commercial airline.

Fully liveried with the team’s logo amid red-white-and-blue colours. It depicts the team’s five Lombardi trophies painted on the tail.

It is hoped that its high cost will be recouped in a well-rested and relaxed team on those away journeys.

The New England Patriots, Owned by billionaire Robert Kraft,  are understood to be the first NFL team to have their own team aircraft.
