London Luton Airport (LTN/EGGW) has continued its growth with a 3.3% increase in passengers using the airport last month.
April saw 1.3 million passengers pass through Luton Airports terminals, the 15th consecutive 1-million-plus month for the airport.
London Luton also bolstered its relationship with airline partners Wizz Air who recently launched a UK subsidiary based at London Luton. They also introduced a fourth aircraft to its Luton based fleet in April as well as the UK’s only low-fare direct flight to Albania.
Wizz Air also announced a further seven new routes from London Luton including Athens, Tallinn and Reykjavik.
The airport is nearing the completion of a £160m transformation which will see capacity increase to 18 million passengers by 2020. It has also built 8 new boarding gates, the first of which has recently opened.
Barry Hunter, CFO of London Luton Airport, said: “April was an important month in our journey to become a world-class airport. We welcomed more passengers who were able to enjoy our enhanced retail experience, and we celebrated the launch of new routes from Wizz Air. This month we’re delighted to celebrate with Wizz Air as its UK subsidiary began operations from LLA.”
