Loganair (LM/LOG) has confirmed its plans to boost its operations at Newcastle Airport (NCL/EGNT) for summer next year including a second Embraer E145 regional jet based at the northern hub.

The expansion plans include a double-daily flight to Aberdeen with a daily onward flight to Oslo, giving Newcastle passengers flight to Oslo without the need to change planes.

There will be twice-weekly flights to Newquay in Cornwall and Bergen, Norway and a five times per week flight to Exeter in Devon.

Luke Lovegrove, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, said: “This bumper schedule for 2023 underlines our commitment to Newcastle with our biggest ever programme for the city, offering customers more choice of destinations, frequency and capacity than ever before.

“It has been a very positive year for Loganair at Newcastle and we are excited to see that success continue into 2023.”

Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development at Newcastle International Airport added: “This biggest ever capacity increase by Loganair is a great vote of confidence in both the Airport and the region, and further strengthens our partnership.

“The investment will provide more choice for passengers flying from Newcastle, create more jobs at the airport and across the wider area, and increase opportunities for the attraction of inbound tourists to the North East.

Loganair also provides connectivity to important business destinations, so this announcement will further boost the growth in business travel.”

Overall Loganair will offer over 200,000 seats from Newcastle Airport from March 2023.
