Loganair announces six new routes for 2020

Growing regional airline Lognair (LM/LOG) has announced that it is launching six new routes from UK airports in 2020 including its first route from Wales.

The new routes are the latest to be announced under Loganair’s ‘Where next?’ programme, which is designed to expand the airline’s route network across the UK and into northern and mainland Europe.

Under the programme, Lognair has already introduced 19 routes since the beginning of 2019 catapulting the airline to the UK’s fifth-largest in terms of the number of flights it operates.

The new city-pairs are:

Jonathan Hinkles, Loganair’s managing director said: “The energy market offers a lot of potential and these routes ensure Newcastle and Aberdeen are connected with Bergen and Haugesund, which in combination with recently announced services from Norwich mean these key energy regions are now easily within reach of one and other as part of Loganair’s overall network.

“Notably, I’m extremely pleased to be able to announce a new route to Aberdeen from East Midlands after being welcomed as the airport’s newest operator only last week – quickly building our presence in the region.

“We’re also excited to begin serving Cardiff, operating flights between Scotland and Wales’s biggest cities – a route which is as important for business as it is for leisure.

“As the airline continues to grow, we’re continually looking for ways to enhance connectivity and convenience for our customers, spreading our wings further once again.”

Speaking about the new route between Glasgow and Cardiff, Cardiff Airport Cheif Executive Officer, Deb Bowen-Rees, said: “it’s great to welcome a new airline to Cardiff. We look forward to the commencement of the route in February and working closely with the team at Loganair.”

Loganair operates a fleet of Jet and Turboprop aircraft including Embraer Regional Jets and Saab 340 aircraft.
