The Welsh government has said that Links Air have withdrawn from operating the Cardiff to Anglesey Intra-Wales route without notice today prompting a new carrier to step in.
Links Air had their Air Operators Certificate (AOC) suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in October 2015 over safety concerns and “to protect the travelling public” A 3rd party contractor North Flying has been operating the flights since.
The Welsh Government, which subsidises the route, has stated that Isle of Man based Citywing have stepped in to operate the route and passengers should travel as normal on monday.
Out to tender
Speaking about the situation a Welsh Government spokesperson said “The provider of the intra Wales service withdrew their service without notice today, but we have secured an alternative carrier to enable the service to continue without interruption.”
Links Air have stated the contract is out to tender.
