Leading UK holiday airline Jet2.com has confirmed it has chosen the CFM Leap 1A engine option for the 36 A321neo aircraft it has on order with Airbus.
The option will come as no surprise given that Jet2.com’s Boeing 737s are CFM powered so the airline has an established relationship with the Ohio based manufacturer.
Philip Meeson, executive chairman of Jet2 said: “We are pleased to extend our long-standing relationship with CFM, who have been a key partner of our continuous growth since our creation”.
The Leap 1A is an 11:1 high bypass ratio engine that can produce up to 35,000lb of thrust whilst maintaining one of the lowest fuel burns of any jet airliner engine.
Jet2.com will also be looking at ways to increase its use of sustainable fuels with its new aircraft.
In addition to the 36 firm orders, Jet2.com also has options for another 24 A321neos.
