St Athan-based Aircraft Maintenance and Training company Cardiff Aviation Ltd has unveiled that it’s changing its name to Caerdav from today.

The change of name coincides with the companies plans to roll out a range of new training and maintenance support services which will include Cabin Crew Attestation services and a dedicated line maintenance team.

The company recently gained approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a Part 145 repair centre and the new name is designed to better reflect its global ambitions as a business.

Speaking about the new name CEO Joachim Jones said: “Our new name, Caerdav, reflects our global ambition and growth plans. Since January, the company has undergone a substantial reconfiguring of operations which has seen us attract repeat business from TUI Airways and secure FAA approvals. Our future looks very bright indeed, and we’re excited to face it with a new identity.”

Saying goodbye to the name Cardiff Aviation should open a new chapter for business which has risen through rocky beginnings where on occasion, staff couldn’t even be paid.

Chairman Bruce Dickinson added: “It was a real moment of pride to found the business in 2012, and I can’t thank our engineers and instructors enough for their incredible work and commitment to date. Together with our management team, they make Caerdav a truly independent centre of excellence for aviation engineering and training.”

Caerdav will be providing maintenance for the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 families of aircraft at its Twin Peaks Hangar at St Athan. Its training centre at nearby Cardiff Airport incorporates two B747 full-motion simulators and an S-61 helicopter simulator.
