Flybe have announced that they will commence a weekly rotation between Cardiff, Wales (CWL) and Dusseldorf, Germany (DUS).
Beginning in April 2015 the Saturday service will operate an 88 seat Embraer E175 E-Jet aircraft directly to the German city and replaces the route abandoned by Germanwings at the end of 2014 after passenger numbers were reportedly poor making it unviable for Germanwings.
It is important that Cardiff Airport builds links to key european cities having lost out with operators such as Helvetic leaving the airport and the weekly link to dusseldorf is certainly a step in right direction linking Wales to the Rhine-Ruhr economic region of Germany and potential tourism boost to both cities if its embraced, and of course, the fares remain low.
