Operating as flight BA2276 to Gatwick on the 8th September 2015 it suffered what the pilot described as a “catastrophic engine failure”. The take-off was aborted and the aircraft was evacuated safely. The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200 registration G-VIIO, suffered severe damage.
A team of engineers from Boeing worked to repair the aircraft and repair the hull at Las Vegas. Once certified as airworthy the aircraft was the flown to Victorville for painting.
Aviation Wales was alerted by Flightradar 24 this morning that the aircraft is en route to Cardiff Airport and is due in around 11 am this morning as BA9179.
