A government adviser has indicated that it is “highly unlikely” that Brits will be taking European holidays this summer in another blow to holiday companies.

Bookings for Summer holidays have soared in the wake of the roadmap out of lockdown announced by the UK Government but cases of COVID-19 cases are starting to soar once again across the continent prompting fears of a 3rd wave.

According to Dr Mike Tildesley this means that there would be a real risk of a resurgence in the UK if people are allowed to travel abroad.

France, Germany and Poland have all reported rapidly increasing numbers of infections.

The increase is expected to spread across Europe due to the inability of the bloc to limit movement between countries.

Holiday companies such as TUI and Jet2 Holidays will be fearing this latest news after suffering an almost total loss of revenue in 2020.
