Low cost carrier easyJet (U2/EZY) is set to create a three aircraft base at Birmingham Airport (BHX/EGBB) from early 2024.

easyJet already operates some flights from midlands airport but this will be the first time that the airline has actually based aircraft and crew there creating jobs in the process.

A formal announcement on routes is due later today but it’s likely to feature France and Spain heavily.

Under the deal with the airport, the base is expected to be expanded to five aircraft later in 2024.
