US carrier Delta Airlines has confirmed it has added 12 more Airbus A220 aircraft to its existing order bring its total firm commitment for the type to 131 aircraft.
Delta’s commitment is made up of 45 A220-100 variants and 86 of the larger A220-300 variants.

The A220 has proced popular as a regional jet offering a 25% lower fuel burn and CO2 emissions per seat compared to previous generation aircraft. It also remains the only aircraft purpose-built for the 100-150 seat market.
It combines state-of-the-art aerodynamics, advanced materials and Pratt & Whitney’s latest-generation GTF™ engines which gove the aircaft a 50% reduced noise footprint and around 50% lower NOx emissions than industry standards.
