Cornwall Airport Newquay (NQY/EGHQ) has been awarded Best Small Airport in the Health and Safety Week Awards seeing off Farnborough (FAB/EGLF) to claim the top spot.
The awards, supported by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), recognise safety initiatives and health and safety at airports across the UK.
Neil Gray from the CAA, co-chair of the judging panel, praised the quality of this year’s entries, stating: “These were extremely difficult decisions this year, with amazing entries from airports all over the UK. Airports are key parts of the country’s infrastructure, and ensuring the safety of passengers and employees is the highest priority.”
Cornwall Newquay Airport’s submission focused on three key areas: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Working at Height, and Airside Environment Safety for staff and passengers.

The panel also highly commended Farnborough Airport for its initiatives.
