The CFM LEAP-1A powered Airbus A319 airliner achieved joint certification from both European and US aviation authorities late in December 2018.

The certification from the US FAA and European EASA airworthiness authorities means that all three A320 family aircraft – the A319neo, A320neo and A321neo – are certified by the international authorities to operate with the CFM LEAP-1A engine option.

The 140 seat version of the A320 family, the A319 has proved popular with budget airlines such as Easyjet and now it joins is bigger siblings with the NEO (New Engine Option) availability which also includes aerodynamic enhancements.

The A320 family is now fully available with two engine options, the PurePower PW1100G from Pratt & Whitney and the LEAP-1A from CFM International.

Since launching the NEO range, Airbus has received orders for 6.200 aircraft making it worlds best selling single-aisle family. Which is great news for the UK as the wings for the entire A320 family are manufactured at Airbus facility at Broughton, North Wales.
