British Airways retires 5 more Boeing 747 Jumbo Jets

British Airways is retiring five more Boeing 747-400 Jumbo Jets this week with the first arriving at an airfield in Gloucestershire earlier today.

The earlier than planned retirement of the aircraft comes as a direct result of the Coronavirus pandemic which has grounded the majority of British Airways fleet.

When the Oneworld liveried Boeing 747-400 G-CIVL touched down in Cotswold Airport (Kemble) it marked the next wave of retirements after five were put out to pasture last week.

British Airways was the largest operator of the 747-400 has been operating the type since 1989.

The next four aircraft are G-CIVJ, G-CIVK, G-CIVN and G-CIVH which will be stored for sale or parting out.
