Airbus has confirmed an order from several Chinese airlines for 292 A320 family aircraft, whose wings are made at Airbus’ Broughton site in North Wales.
The aircraft are destined for Chinese carriers Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, and Shenzhen Airlines and highlights the strong recovery in the Asian aviation sector post-COVID-19.
Put together by Airbus’ China team, commenting on the deal Christian Scherer, Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International said: “We commend the excellent work by George Xu and the entire Airbus China team as well as our customers’ teams for having brought to conclusion these long and extensive discussions that have taken place throughout the difficult COVID pandemic.”
The deal is made of Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft and will bring the total number of Airbus A320 family aircraft operating in the Chinese fleet to 2070
