Blue Islands operate a fleet of ATR  (Avions de transport régional) 42 and 72 aircraft and it is understood that the service will be operated by an ATR72-500 aircraft capable of carrying 66 passengers.

Blue Islands is now a Flybe franchise partner which means reservations and bookings are handled by Flybe but Blue Islands operate the flights.

The 2nd biggest of the Channel Islands, Guernsey is known for beach resorts like Cobo Bay and the scenery of its coastal cliffs. It is also rich in military history as the channel islands were officially the only part of the UK to be occupied by Germany during World War II.

Rob Veron, Blue Islands CEO, said: “Blue Islands is committed to the rejuvenation of our tourism industry and we hope this new route will be a valuable boost to our island’s visitor economy. With the added benefit of our Flybe franchise, Blue Islands is also better equipped than ever to encourage the 1.8m audience surrounding Cardiff Airport to discover our beautiful island.”

The Schedule will operate:

Cardiff – Guernsey Tu Th Sa

Debra Barber, Cardiff Airport Managing Director said: “It’s great to welcome another airline to Cardiff Airport. The franchise agreement between Blue Islands and Flybe is an innovative way to offer our customers even more choice and value for money, as demonstrated by the introduction of a new service to Guernsey”
