Flights in and out of Belfast City Airport (BHD/EGAC) are cancelled this evening following a landing incident involving an Aer Lingus ATR72-600 which closed the runway.

The aircraft was positioning into Belfast City Airport from Edinburgh with 4 crew members on board when the nose gear collapsed following what was described as a “hard landing” at around 16:15 local time.

Emerald Airlines operates flights on behalf of Aer Lingus Regional and in a statement said that the flight had “experienced a hard landing upon arriving into Belfast City Airport due to adverse weather conditions”.

The airport is expected to remain closed until tomorrow morning to allow for the removal of the aircraft.

No injuries have been reported.
