An Azerbaijan Airlines Embraer E190 crashed while trying to make an emergency landing near Aktau, Kazakhstan. The aircraft was operating a flight from Baku to Grozny, Russia.

Video of the flight shows the aircraft heading towards the ground with its landing gear down in an attempt to make an emergency landing. However, the aircraft lands fast breaking up on impact and catching fire.

Officials say there were 62 passengers and 5 crew members onboard the aircraft but there are at least 25 survivors, of which 22 have been taken to hospital.

The Embraer E190 was operating flight J28243 which departed Baku at 03:55GMT this morning crashing around 2hrs later.

The route from Baku to Grozny takes the flight over the Caspian Sea but the flight was diverted due to Fog.
