Aer Lingus, which last flew a scheduled flight from Cardiff Airport in 2016, is set to make a tentative return to Wales’ national airport.

According to ‘UK Aviation Schedule Analyst’ Sean M on twitter, Aer Lingus Regional will restart flights between Cardiff Airport and Dublin from 30th August 2021 operating 3 times per week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays.

The information has not yet been formally announced by the airport or Aer Lingus but if true it could mark a significant change in fortune for there Wales’ only airport and see the return of flights to the US pre-clearing the US border in Dublin.

Cardiff Airport lost its only other connection to Dublin with the collapse of Flybe, ironically the airline that pushed Aer Lingus out of Cardiff originally.
