Aviation Capital Group has finalised an order for 35 Boeing 737 Max airliners ahead of the Farnborough International Airshow which kicks off next Monday.
The order consists of 16 737 Max8 and 19 737 Max10 variants and brings the total ordered by the leasing specialist to 82.
“This firm order for additional MAX aircraft enhances the strategic value of ACG’s order book, supports a key pillar of our growth strategy and reinforces our commitment to invest in modern and fuel-efficient aircraft technology,” commented Thomas Baker, chief executive officer and president at ACG.
The 737 Max is positioned in the prime single-aisle market and is a competitor to Airbus’ A320 family.
Although the 737 Max10 is still yet to be certified it has been popular with leasing companies offering a higher capacity, 230 compared to the Max8’s 210 seats and has a range of 5,740km.
“ACG has been a longstanding, valued partner on the 737 MAX programme,” said Brad McMullen, Boeing senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing. “Today’s repeat order demonstrates market demand for the 737 MAX family of airplanes as ACG’s customers seek to operate flexible, fuel-efficient fleets”.
Boeing will be showcasing its product range at Farnborough, particularly the Boeing 777-9 which is in the certification process and no doubt hoping for a boost in orders.
