15 years of Easyjet at Newcastle

Easyjet: Inside the Cockpit

Low-Cost carrier Easyjet has celebrated 15 years of operations at Newcastle Airport (NCL/EGNT).

Passengers were met with celebrations that included cake at check-in whilst crews were treated to party food in the crew room.

Passengers on board one Easyjet flight also had the opportunity to win prizes as part of the celebrations. Passengers on the Geneva-bound flight won prices including a voucher for 2 easyJet return flights to anywhere across the network, and an Italian afternoon tea for 2 with prosecco.

In the last 15 years, Easyjet has flown 16.6 million passengers from Newcastle airport and it now has a three aircraft based at the North-eastern hub.

Ali Gayward, easyJet UK country director, commented: “We are delighted to be celebrating 15 fantastic years of our base at Newcastle International Airport.

“We are proud to be the biggest airline in Newcastle, serving destinations such as Rhodes and Alicante internationally, and domestic routes such as Belfast and Bristol.

Easyjet looks forward to continuing to provide low fares and friendly customer service to our passengers in the North East.”

Nick Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Newcastle International Airport, said: “Of all our airline partners, easyJet carries the most passengers, taking the North East travelling public to a great range of destinations and we’re delighted to be celebrating this milestone with them. The commitment shown to the region by the airline is always great, with some fantastic routes and aircraft added over the years – including the recently added state-of-the-art, low-noise and low-emissions A320neo aircraft. We can’t wait to see where the next 15 years will take us.”
